Tó Trips now begins a new chapter in his journey with the release of “Dissidente”, the new album from his solo project and the first recorded as a quartet. Alongside Alexandre Frazão on drums, António Quintino on double bass, and Helena Espvall on cello, Tó Trips presents the Fake Latinos.

With a lineup of 16 original tracks, this new album was produced by Tó Trips himself, alongside Hugo Valverde and António Quintino, and was recorded between November and December 2024 at Namouche Studios.

For Tó Trips, this new work represents “A handful of songs, places, and life stories – sometimes darker, other times brighter, some more rhythmic, others more jazzy – always with one foot in Lisbon and the other beyond. Where the way I played guitar in the past meets the way I play today! My music has always been a powerful means of dissent for me, capable of transforming personal feelings into forms of fulfillment and protest. Being myself in the world with my music and my guitar!”.

A low-profile yet consistently influential presence in the Portuguese music scene, Tó Trips has spent nearly four decades mastering the guitar – an exceptional case of unwavering resilience and constant inventiveness. His guitar is alive with stories, memories, and experiences, possessing a vast and unique visual power. His solo debut, Guitarra 66 (2009), marked his first openly autobiographical work, followed by Guitarra
Macaca (2015) and Popular Jaguar (2023), predecessors to the new Dissidente.
